Mess Hall Wedding in the Heart of Washington DC. Araceli and Andrew

From the Classroom to Forever: Araceli and Andrew’s Love Story

Araceli and Andrew’s Mess Hall wedding was a celebration full of personality, color, and a whole lot of good energy. Set in one of DC’s most creative and flexible event spaces, their day felt like a reflection of them—stylish, untraditional, and community-driven.

So how did these two meet? Well, it all started in the classroom! As teachers at a nearby charter school, Araceli and Andrew spent their days inspiring young minds—and in the process, they discovered how to inspire each other. Their connection was instant, and over time, their partnership blossomed into a love that’s built on mutual respect, laughter, and a shared passion for making a difference.

The ceremony took place inside Mess Hall, surrounded by close friends and family. The industrial-style space gave them room to keep things simple but still stylish. A mix of soft florals and personal details made the space feel warm and inviting, without needing to go over the top. That’s one of the best things about a Mess Hall wedding—it gives couples room to get creative without limitations.

After the ceremony, the place came to life with food stations, drinks, and dancing. The layout made it easy for guests to move around, catch up, and enjoy everything at their own pace. Araceli and Andrew made a point to keep the evening relaxed and interactive, and it worked. The energy built naturally, and by the time the dancing started, the whole space felt like a really good party.

We snuck away for a few portraits outside, taking advantage of the urban backdrops and evening light. A Mess Hall wedding has that city feel without being too formal—and that’s exactly what made Araceli and Andrew’s day so memorable.

If you’re into open layouts, good food, and a space that lets you do things your way, a Mess Hall wedding is definitely worth checking out. Araceli and Andrew showed how you can make it entirely your own.
